MBR Technology Revolutionizes Wastewater Treatment with High Efficiency

MBR (Membrane Bio-Reactor) is a highly efficient wastewater treatment process that combines traditional biological treatment (such as activated sludge method) with membrane separation technology. Its core is to replace the traditional secondary sedimentation tank with ultrafiltration or microfiltration membrane (pore size 0.01~0.4 μm) to achieve slurry water separation and improve the effluent quality at the same time. MBR membrane technology first removes biodegradable organic pollutants in water through activated sludge, and then uses membrane modules to forcibly intercept the activated sludge and most of the suspended solids in the bioreactor to achieve the solid-liquid separation of purified water and activated sludge, thereby strengthening the biochemical reaction and improving the sewage treatment effect and effluent quality.

The MBR treatment process had a significant effect on the treatment of COD in the wastewater of the nitrogen fertilizer industry, and the biochemical strains had a short stage of health and acclimation, and the effect was stable from the third day. In both the stable treatment stage and the normal operation stage, the COD removal rate can be maintained, and the removal rate is basically more than 90%. The average export COD is controlled below 30mg/L.

MBR is an efficient combination of membrane separation technology and biological treatment method, and its origin is to replace the secondary sedimentation tank in the activated sludge method with membrane separation technology for solid-liquid separation. This process not only effectively achieves the purpose of slurry separation, but also has the incomparable advantages of the traditional process of tertiary sewage treatment:

1. Efficient solid-liquid separation, the separation effect is much better than that of the traditional sedimentation tank, the effluent water quality is good, the effluent suspended solids and turbidity are close to zero, and can be directly reused, realizing the sewage recycling.

2. The efficient interception effect of the membrane makes the microorganisms completely trapped in the bioreactor, realizes the complete separation of the reactor hydraulic retention time (HRT) and sludge age (SRT), and the operation control is flexible and stable.

3. Because MBR combines the aeration tank and the secondary sedimentation tank of traditional sewage treatment into one, and replaces all the process facilities of tertiary treatment, it can greatly reduce the floor area and save civil engineering investment.

4. It is conducive to the interception and reproduction of nitrifying bacteria, and the system has high nitrification efficiency. Through the change of operation mode, it can also have the function of deammonization and phosphorus removal.

5. Because the mud age can be very long, the degradation efficiency of refractory organic matter is greatly improved.

6. The reactor operates under high volumetric load, low sludge load and long sludge age, and the residual sludge output is very low.
